At Kohia Terrace School, we are proud to be a coaching school, where growth and development are at the heart of our approach.
Our school leadership team are trained coaches and support teachers with leadership and pedagogical goals. Coaching is embedded within our professional growth cycle and our local curriculum.
We aim to support each other with a ‘coaching way of being’ in everything that we do.
A number of student coaches in Years 6-8 train every year in the "Students Coaching Students" course. These coaches work with a class of students fortnightly to support learning goals in classrooms. Buddy coaches team up with specific students to help and encourage them. Additionally, some have coaching duties during break times, helping to create a positive, supportive and inclusive school environment.
The benefits are felt by both coaches and those being coached. It is an empowering experience for all and the results are felt long into high school.
Together, we cultivate a thriving learning community through a shared commitment to growth, leadership, and student empowerment.
